sigh, time flies like super fast when you're out here.
so much to do, so little time..
Festive period is approaching, but i dun seem to feel the spirit either..
a food for thought: probably this is going to be the way life is, even after this 2yrs. life of a working adult.
I need to start constructing a plan for the next phase too.
Perhaps pursuing something of a bridge in outdoor learning and human psychology?
or go see the world?
boy, i am missing the sea, sun, breeze!
*wonder wad will my sarge think if i paste this picture on my locker as the thing u miss most.. hahaha
BOOK OUT !
at last i got a long weekend to myself - No 0530hes reveille 5BX, & catching up with news and friends.. (well, hope they're free of course)...
Reflecting on the past 2 weeks..
Army life is a mix of hot and cold, certain thing makes sense, others dun and you just gotta swallow it.
The highlight thus far gotta be the live range, shooting a SAR21 rifle for the first time, your finger on the trigger and squeezing it off.. Bang! down goes the target.. CS comes alive! The night shoot was initially a blur, as in you cant see where the targets are. but we get to use the tracer rounds for that, and its really beautiful watching your own effort exploding into a mini fire display at the target board..
then comes the dull part, cleaning your rifle, gosh! firing is so easy, but th amount of carbon built up uh.. is a shit load of black soot to clear..
then also the middle of the night 3am wake up route march to draw arms for the first time. we all got "bluff-ed" by our officer, who gave us some fake next day activity plan & we all went to sleep thinking" tml is an easy day..haha, reminds me of the time when i'd my nite walk at ubin.. thats probably the most shag day thus far..
I'm also glad my OC doesnt believe in corporal punishment, but when he does it, the feelings is damn sucky i swear.. sad to say, my platoon always is the one that kana it.. for all sorts of different reasons.. I've been pondering that why its a must to shout ard in army? doesnt it make sense the more u try to control something the more control you lose..
& then, there are the people that still cant get used to an army life.. abt regimental-ism, abt uniformity, abt teamwork.. once scolded, not shy at all one.. how much bad habit u get used the more difficult it is to remove it, so why not just accept the fact that "2 yrs lan lan have to serve", make the better of it not some shit life..
thats army for you! not forgetting the non stop constant PT sessions daily. changing of attire in lightning speed.. haha, sigh.. every Singaporean son..
Tomorrow's the day.
1st time botak, 1st time drawing weapon.. many questions, mixed feelings.
I hope I dun lose my tan when i get in too.. Weight will be down thats for sure..
I'd just wanna thank anyone that's reading this for being a friend..
All this years, you people are an awesome bunch.. & I do look forward to seeing you all again soon!
& if you feel the urge to text me, pls do! :)
Take care people!
Well, good byes are always hard.
So, I'll leave with a song to help me with that..
The words to sum it all.. what more can i ask for, lest the alfresco dining on the beach which i couldnt really find, except for their local mee bakso which was deliciously cooked.
HAHA.
Gone Surfing
Surfing. another new sport for me.
it looks so incredibly easy on video, but breaking out to get the waves is the un-told part of this joy.
But, if u hit the right technique, force & timing.. standing up & surfing to shore is pure happiness. Feels as though u've 'tamed' the force of mother nature..
Golly, I do much miss the crashing wave therapy now.. :(
The locals were really friendly too, even though the roadside shops WILL require a little of aggressive bargaining as they're pretty much 4x the actual selling price..
Surf products are galore too..
Only peeve is the lack of food outlets, u gotta walk a distance to find a good one.. and surprisingly the Japanese cuisine there are good too. Hahah.
Hard Rock Cafe Bali
Not forgetting hard rock cafe. Boy-wee!
Having a meal listening to the likes of the beatles, elvis, etc.. (Y)
A place to re-visit in the future. & to those who love th sun & shopping; yes you too!
so yup, all in all. this 4 days was the last real break i'm gonna have.. Next Tues, will be a new chapter.. A chapter i wish to quickly flip through..
