Well well.. Hadnt time to update this space for quite some time..
so yup, last weekend's penang trip was fun.
Food glorious food! :)
Kway teow th'ng

Curry Mee
The Famous Penang Char Kway Teow
SO began our trip on Friday, via the express bus to sungei nibon bus terminal on penang island.
hahas, i guess nowadays the land transport market gotta keep up with the rising airlines.. There's seats that can go fully recline, complete with person entertainment system!
A pity's the movies screened are probably pirated, but oh well, at least time passes more quickly
on board, making the 10 hr bus ride seems like a blink of an eye.
Sat morning. Arrived. Fresh clean breeze. took a taxi to the hotel, as we werent sure wad route the penang island buses were gonna take. First glimpse, Penang reminds me on singapore,
there're street lamps everywhere, and not that much rubbish i see strewn everywhere..
Couldnt check in the hotel as we were too early.. 7am! haha, so made our way to an authentic Penang breakfast right in the historic georgetown.. wanton mee, lor mee, pi dan porridge, etc.. u want it u name it. haha, superb! After which we took a bus around to see the old fort and some colonial buildings.. which makes it to 12; & we can check in..
Afternoon, decided to go shopping at Komtar, the big centralised place where everyone impt
gathers. saw nth much, and caught karate kid.. it was a Cathay theater there! RM10 only, sharp contrast eh.. Dinner was the best. Street food! walked into a street in old chinatown which looks
like khao san road in bkk, backpacker's inn and in the middle this roadside stall.. Tried
something amazing called char kway kak.. it is like carrot cake but in diff shapes, and the taste one is simply mouth watering good. tau geh nv tasted so good before..
:)
land rover spotted!
Sunday came. Breakfast was hotel this time. relax for the morning, den headed out to Penang Hill.. Took public transport! feels so great to be planning ur own itinerary.. But sadly, the funicular up the hill is closed!! and the other way up is by 4wd; which was rather steep in pricing as to the gradient of the hill..
Bottom of the hill where the closed funicular sits.
Visited kek lok si temple, which was nearby.. very nice architecture they have carving the temple walls.. amazing view from the top too.. :)
View from the top near the guan yin statue..
hehes, another land rover spotted!!
Lunch was hawker fare.. you just cant get enugh of their hawker food, so amazing..
As the sun drop over the Straits of melacca, we arrived at Gurney Drive.. the more upmarket
part of town.. Dinner was a sumptuous seafood affair to celebrate fathers day.. Cheers Dad!
aye! the luxury hotels there look good.
Monday.. sigh. :( time to go home.. gonna miss all the food.
even the skies agreed, as it was raining.. pretty much the whole day..
but nevertheless, we went out for the last good penang style breakfast, enjoy my char kway teow.. Did some light shopping, - bought some bak kuah which turned out to be very good stuff when we came back to try..
was still raining when we checked out. but we made it to the bus stop to catch a bus to the airport. haha, it's the exact same bus model Singapore's SBS had been using.. the only difference, one is 60kmph the other is 90kmph.. hahah, so cool as we sped along.. :)
Soon enough, we gotta board our plane already.. Thank You Penang.
was a short flight & we landed safely.
Post - travel depression begins..
Look to facebook for my photos!
hahaha. sums up my short getaway.
a fun short eat trip..
dunno when will be the next time i get to do so with them again.. its 2 years of home soil..
think the whole volume of water which fell could have been our sweat that had been 'torturous-ly' evaporated from us the past month and weeks.
haha, let's hope the weather stays and not scorching heat tml.
I'm also a little delighted in the sense when i hear news of orchard road being flooded due to the downpour.
sorry, but always when dealing with news that involves random acts of nature that leaves the city coming to a stand-still; i gotta applaud that.
shows that mother nature is striking back, leaves ourselves to think of one moment what we
have done to cause that, enjoyed too much air-con? or that we burned too many stuff on this
planet?
pictures from the flooding:
Sungei Orchard..
HAHAHA. well u see i've presented a problem, a likely one considering the erratic weather.
The solution: Get a 4Wheel Drive! :D
Presenting... *drums roll.. the Land Rover!!
Toyota Land Cruiser
Land Rover Defender
Land Rover Discovery.
woohoo, this further justifies the idea of me getting a land rover for my dream car.. hahaha, if i get the above situation, i'd probably just drive straight through it.
Fuss free. Simple.
:)
The top gear episode that left me hooked on 4wd.
The Bolivia's Road of death..
back to other stuff,
i'm glad the spice funding meeting was not as grilling as i thot, & yes hopefully we are on our way to start up soon..
